I decided to start a blog for the sake of out of town family and more honestly, for the sake of my boredom. The name Our Sweet Sunshine comes from a few sources. First, baby Sunshine's lullaby. Once we found out we were pregnant we quickly decided her lullaby would be "You Are My Sunshine." Thus we have a blog about the Sunshine in our lives, mainly the kids.
Moving on to more important things: Us. Hubby and I have been married one year and one month to the day. We have two kids from Hubby's previous marriage ages 8 and 5, and little Sunshine who was born on Jan. 9, a whopping 10 miserable days overdue. Thanks heavens for induction. We live in a hoity-toity country club area (aptly named "Country Club") in Salt Lake, thanks to my father-in-law who is renting us this house. Our income is less hoity-toity and more collect-the-change-from-under-the-couch-cushions. Which is naturally a situation we hope to alter one day and could be altered if I chose to work. I'm a Stay At Home Mom (SAHM) to Sunshine and have my stepkids, TuffStuff and Miss Fancy, with us part-time. Hubby works for a shutter company which is family owned and operated. Where was I? Oh yes. Though we're renting right now, we're in the process of searching for a home to buy. I spend the better part of my day researching homes online. We hope to be moving within a month or so, but we've been saying that since March. I'll keep you updated on the effort.
So now that I've done the mandatory intro, let me think if there's any news with which I can delight your eager minds. Sunshine is sitting. That's probably a stretch to say as she's only sat independently for maximum of two minutes and averages 15 seconds upright. She is getting better though and is so proud of herself. I can't believe it's already been nearly six months! I'm so thrilled that we're blessing her this Sunday. The house is half-scrubbed (and uh, re-scrubbed after a potty accident this afternoon) and I'm trying not to stress about it. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up Sunshine's special-ordered blessing dress. The only "special" thing about it is that she's in a 6-9 month blessing dress since we didn't bless her as a newborn like most normal people. Oh well, one thing I can already tell about our marriage is that Hubby and I sure don't do things by the book.
TuffStuff and Miss Fancy are doing well. They've moved from daycare to the Boys and Girl's Club which they'll start Monday. Hubby and I are nervous for the transition but we're hoping it's for the best. TuffStuff spends the majority of his time doing "boy things" like riding his bike, building Lincoln Logs or Legos, using his slip'n'slide and kicking the soccer ball with Hubby. Miss Fancy is slightly more indoorsy and spends her time coloring, using play dough, dressing up, or playing outside with her brother.
Oh and Hubby? He spends the majority of his time finishing Sunshine's crib, working, and sleeping. We're trying really hard to get the crib done for the blessing and I don't think I've spent a solid hour alone with him this week. It's hard on both of us but I think once the dang crib is finished we'll be relieved. I'll post pictures when it's done if I figure out how.
So that's us and I hope I remember when I wake up tomorrow that I have a blog. We'll see how this goes. If you enjoyed the blog, remind me to post more. If not, act like you never read it and we'll pretend this never happened. Ciao.
